About Opportunity

A non-profit art organization - Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea launched a a 4-week residency program in Lisbon for emerging and professional artists, performers, musicians, curators. Applications are evaluation by a selection committee comprising artists, curators, community representatives, and board members of the organization. The committee is responsible for selecting one artist and offering various provisions, including private accommodation, a private working studio available 24/7, technical assistance, support for promotion and communication, and an open public presentation showcasing the residency process.

About Organizer

Zaratan – Arte Contemporânea is a non-profit organization created by artists in the heart of Lisbon, Portugal in 2014. Functioning as a creative hub, Zaratan is dedicated to the creation, production, and promotion of contemporary art. It also serves as a platform for contemplation and active engagement with the arts.

With the aim of nurturing creativity and fostering meaningful cultural developments, Zaratan has curated a diverse and cost-free program of activities, including contemporary exhibitions, video screenings, live concerts, artist talks, presentations, and visual art performances.

Eligibility:

  • All emerging and professional artists, performers, musicians, curators, writers and other cultural agents, whether as individuals or in collectives can apply for residency program

Project/event location:

  • Lisbon, Portugal

Participation fee:

  • Registration is free, but artists are self-responsible for any project production costs

Award/prize: 

  • Accommodation in a studio-apartment for 4-weeks

  • A dedicated working art studio

  • Artist should mention ideal period of time they like to stay at Zaratan
