About Opportunity
The international cultural organization Zusa has opened a call for artists for the residency program titled "What's Next?". This initiative invites artists to delve into the potential intersections between two vital themes: the "reflection and reevaluation of the concept of solidarity in Europe" and the "mental well-being of artists and cultural professionals." The primary focus is on investigating how solidarity manifests within culture and what the future holds for it in the face of ongoing global crises. These residencies will serve as dedicated spaces for artistic experimentation, collaboration, exchange, and exploration of micro-utopian possibilities within the realm of art's contribution to solidarity. Between February and April 2024, six selected artists, along with a curator, researcher, or cultural manager, will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of Berlin. Recognizing that not all participating artists may interact directly during the residency, the curator, researcher, or cultural manager will collaborate with a local curator to facilitate connections and foster synergy between the different residency experiences. This initiative promises to be a transformative experience for those passionate about exploring the dynamic interplay between art, solidarity, and cultural well-being.
