About Opportunity

The Villa Sonnenberg Foundation, committed to preserving the historic Villa Sonnenberg and fostering cultural exchange, invites professional artists of all disciplines to apply for its 2026 Artist-in-Residence program. Centered around the theme "In Motion," the program explores the relationship between art and movement in all its forms—visual, physical, digital, and conceptual. Artists are encouraged to propose projects that engage with movement not just as a subject, but as a vital element of artistic practice. The residency offers a space for creative exploration, intercultural dialogue, and artistic growth. Studio residencies at Villa Sonnenberg typically span a three-month period, offering artists an extended opportunity for focused creative work. In 2026, two residency sessions are available: the first runs from mid-May to mid-August, and the second from mid-September to mid-December.
