The Sony World Photography Awards 2025 is open for all photographers worldwide

The World Photography Organisation has opened applications for the 2025 Photographer of the Year and the Sony World Photography Awards, open to both emerging and professional photographers globally. The competition welcomes submissions in any photographic medium. Entrants may participate in the Open competition (for single images taken in 2025), submitting up to three entries free, across ten category themes; category winners, as well as up to 15 shortlisted photographers per category, will be announced ahead of April 2026, and one overall Open Photographer of the Year will be revealed in April 2026. The Professional competition accepts series of 5–10 images, also across ten categories; up to seven shortlisted photographers per category, plus 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places, will be notified before April 2026 — and one overall Professional Photographer of the Year, whose work will be featured solo at the following year’s London exhibition, will be announced in April 2026.
