About Opportunity

The Royal Society of Marine Artists invites artists to submit works for the RSMA Annual Exhibition 2023. Artistic organisation is looking for submissions of any art medium’s works inspired by the sea and marine environment, including harbors and shorelines, traditional craft and contemporary shipping, creeks, beaches, wildlife. The selection committee is formed of artist members of the society. They will select the best artistic works. Selected artworks will be exhibited in Mall Galleries in London in 2023 and the winning artists will be awarded.

About Organizer

Mall Galleries, which was founded in 1961, is managed by the Federation of British Artists. Gallery empowers artists through different programs, including exhibitions and events, prizes and awards. The gallery’s focus is figurative art.
The Royal Society of Marine Artists, Originally called “The Society of Marine Artists”, was founded in 1939.

Acceptable media: 

  • Oil;

  • Acrylic;

  • Watercolour;

  • original prints of any media;

  • mixed media;

  • Drawings;

  • Pastels;

  • Sculpture.

 

Eligibility:

  • International artists over the age of 18 can participate 


Project/Event Location:

  • London, UK


Participation fee:

  • The application submission fee is £20 per work for standard entries and £14 per work for artists aged 35 or under


Award/prize:

  • Exhibition 

  • Works for sale

  • Total prize - £10,000, including BAE Systems Award, Baltic Exchange Award, The Charles Pears Award, The Kenneth Denton Award, etc. 


Application requirements:

  • Online application form

  • Project (description, photo - JPEG)

  • Maximum of six works submitted, maximum of four works selected

  • Works should be no larger than 2.4m along the longest dimension

  • The artist is responsible for the transportation costs and safety of the work

The submission closes:

  • 28 July, 2023 


If selected, the artworks should be delivered: 

  • 9 September, 2023
