About Opportunity

The internationally recognized Pittsburgh Center for Arts and Media, based in the United States, offers a unique opportunity for one ceramic artist to participate in its 2025 residency program. This residency spans approximately 8 to 9 months, running from fall (September/October) through spring (April/May). Applicants should hold a BFA in ceramics or demonstrate an established practice and a cohesive body of work. Through the Ceramic Artist-in-Residence program, the Center seeks to enrich both its internal studio community and the broader Pittsburgh ceramics scene by introducing innovative techniques, perspectives, and approaches within contemporary ceramic arts. The residency places a strong emphasis on supporting emerging artists from historically underrepresented groups in the field. In addition to developing their artistic practice, the selected resident will gain valuable hands-on experience in managing and coordinating a fast-paced, community-oriented studio environment. Residents are expected to contribute 10–15 hours per week to studio maintenance, actively participate in the studio community, and present a public exhibition and artist talk in January. They are also encouraged to complete one studio improvement project that reflects their interests and skill set.
