The Discerning Eye is a UK-based educational foundation that was established in 1990. Art organizations promote a broader awareness and pleasure of the visual arts, as well as debate regarding the role and purpose of art.
Since 1999, exhibition sponsor ING has funded the annual show.
The Federation of British Artists manages the Mall Galleries, which opened in 1961. The gallery encourages artists through various initiatives such as exhibitions and activities, as well as prizes and awards.

Award/prize:

Total prize - £14 000, which includes ING Purchase Prize - £5 000 and The Discerning Eye Founder’s Prize (in honour of Michael Reynolds) - £2 500.
