About Opportunity

The Farm Margaret River Artist in Residence program invites both Australian and international artists—working individually or in collectives—whose work explores themes of place, environment, and materiality. As an esteemed arts residency based in Western Australia, the program offers a distinctive opportunity for artists to create work that meaningfully engages with the land. Applicants are expected to submit original proposals that reflect a strong connection to the residency’s unique setting. Successful applications will demonstrate a high level of artistic skill and innovation, supported by a solid professional background in the arts. Proposals should clearly articulate a contemporary concept aligned with the residency’s site-responsive focus, showcasing the artist’s commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue about our relationship with the environment. An international selection committee will choose the most compelling applicants, providing them with a residency stipend, accommodation, and project development support.

About Organizer

The Farm Margaret River is a family-founded arts organization, established in 2017 by Helen Taylor Mack and Darryl Mack on their family property in Western Australia’s South West region. Located on the ancestral lands of the Wardandi people, The Farm combines working farmland with artist studios, creating a unique space where art and agriculture coexist.
Its flagship Artist in Residence program welcomes both Australian and international artists to develop site-responsive works that engage meaningfully with the land. Through this initiative, The Farm seeks to deepen public understanding of our relationship with the natural world.
