About Opportunity
The internationally recognized Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize is accepting responses with the aim to support emerging artists in contemporary art criticism. The winner will receive a £1,000 cash prize, have their review published on Burlington Contemporary, and gain the opportunity to write a future exhibition review for The Burlington Magazine. This year’s prize will be judged by esteemed art historian Dawn Ades and acclaimed artist and writer Hito Steyerl. Applicants must have published no more than six pieces of writing—either in print or online, in any language or country—prior to submitting their entry.
About Organizer
Founded in 1903, The Burlington Magazine has long been a leading voice in art criticism. Designed to support emerging writers, the Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize encourages clear, concise, and well-structured writing that engages with complex ideas without relying on overly complicated language. The Prize is generously funded by the Thistle Trust.
