About Organizer
Established in 1932 in honor of illustrator and muralist Edwin Austin Abbey NA, the Abbey Mural Prize funds the creation and restoration of public murals in the U.S. Since 1940, the National Academy of Design has awarded grants to numerous individuals and organizations, supporting murals that promote social activism, revitalize neighborhoods, and engage communities.
The National Academy of Design advances art and architecture in the United States through exhibitions, education, and research. Established in 1825, it is the country’s leading society for visual artists and architects. The Academy advocates for the arts as an educational tool, highlights the contributions of artists and architects to public life, and fosters cultural dialogue that drives societal progress.
