About Opportunity
The international non-profit organization Safemuse, in partnership with the Municipality of Oslo, invites artists from all over the world to participate in its 2025 Artists-in-Residency Program. In a polarized world, many artists face censorship, threats, or restrictions. To support them, Safemuse offers a six-month Residency Program in Oslo, Norway, promoting artistic freedom, solidarity, and collaboration. Applicants are required to submit a brief description of their situation regarding censorship. The selection committee, consisting of artists, representatives from art and cultural institutions, human rights advisors, and the Safemuse team, will choose the artists and provide them with accommodation and a working art studio for the duration of the residency.
About Organizer
Safemuse was founded in 2010 by musician Jan Lothe Eriksen and established as an independent membership organization in 2013 by NOPA (Norwegian Society of Composers and Lyricists). Safemuse is dedicated to protecting artistic freedom of expression and supporting artists at risk. Since 2014, Safemuse has annually accepted artists into its residency program, providing them with safe spaces for artistic development and cooperation.
