About Opportunity

Rotterdam Photo, the internationally recognized annual photography festival, is open for submissions for its 2026 edition, titled Echoes of Silence – War in the Artist’s Soul. The festival welcomes photographers from around the world, working in all forms of photographic practice. Submissions will be assessed on originality, artistic quality, and the depth of expression in relation to the festival’s theme. Selected participants will be invited to exhibit their projects and create site-specific installations within the festival’s signature container spaces during Rotterdam Photo 2026. As part of the award, winning artists will receive dedicated exhibition space to present their work to an international audience.

Established in 2016, it stands out as an inclusive and forward-thinking event. With its signature container village, Rotterdam Photo transforms the city’s Art Axis into a vibrant and visually captivating hub for photographic expression.

The jury for Rotterdam Photo 2026 consists:

  • Mira Matić, Curator, Spatial Designer

  • Marcel Kollen, Freelance photographer. Managing director of Rotterdam Photo

  • Amelie Schüle, Director of Photoforum Pasquart in Biel/Bienne

  • Ângela Ferreira, Artist, Curator, and Researcher in the field of Photography and Contemporary Visual Culture

  • Erik Vroons, Editor in Chief for GUP, international magazine for creative contemporary photography

Eligibility:

  • Both professional and emerging photographers, over the age of 18, from across the globe can participate

Participation fee:

  • Single image submission fee is €35 per entry

Award/prize:

  • Artworks for sale

  • Opportunity to participate in the Rotterdam Photo Talks and RP networking events

Application requirements:

  • Online application form

  • CV/portfolio (up to 1500 characters)

  • Artist statement 

  • 1 project can be submitted on per submission with 1 to 5 images (JPG format) per project
