About Opportunity

The internationally recognized organization, PRAKSIS, is pleased to announce a one-month residency program at Samong Haven in Sumberkima, Bali, open to architects and visual artists from all over the world. This year’s theme is - Bricking It: An Urgent Situation 2024. The residency program will leverage Indonesian traditional knowledge to explore the technology, history, aesthetics, and potential applications of traditional brick as an environmentally sustainable material. The residency program will be coordinated by internationally experienced architects and professors Don Lawrence, Andy Rahman, Professor Dr. Totok Noerwasito and Dr. I Nyoman Gede Maha Putra. The selection process is guided by Don Lawrence, Ketut Karya (Samong Haven Bali), and PRAKSIS. They will evaluate each application individually considering each applicant’s capacity to actively contribute to and gain value from -the residency.

About Organizer

PRAKSIS, established as a charitable organization in 2015, connects artists, thinkers, and individuals within Norway's creative ecosystem through thematic programs that address pressing issues of the contemporary era.
Samong Haven is a cultural and learning centre in Sumberkima, North-West Bali.

Eligibility:

  • All architects, artisans, skilled craftsmen/women, visual artists, designers working in related media from across the globe can apply for the residency

Participation fee:

  • Participation is free


Award/prize: 

  • Accommodation and travel expenses are covered by the organization. 

  • Working art studio

  • Allowance - 5000 NOK (€425)
