About Opportunity
The internationally recognized organization Passa Porta offers an annual one-month Residency Program in Brussels, Belgium, for foreign writers, scholars, researchers, and dramaturgs. Applications are now open for the 2026 Residency Program. During their stay, residents are provided with a supportive environment for working on literary projects, research, or writing. Priority is typically given to authors of prose, poetry, graphic novels, or literary non-fiction whose work is available in Dutch or French, and/or whose proposed project is related to Belgium or Europe. Each year, a selection committee at Passa Porta chooses nine international artists or writers, offering them accommodation and a stipend. The exact residency dates and duration are arranged individually after the application process.
About Organizer
Passa Porta, the International House of Literature in Brussels, was founded in 2004 when two organizations, Het Beschrijf and Entrez Lire, joined forces to create a multilingual literary centre. Its mission is to serve as a meeting place and working space for writers, translators, and readers, offering access to world literature and promoting translation across languages . It also organizes the biennial Passa Porta Festival, a major multilingual literary event, and hosts various literary projects and residency programs to foster creative exchange.
