About Opportunity

The internationally recognized organization Open House Europe invites artists and art enthusiasts worldwide to apply for its 2024 Visual Stories competition. Participants who have attended an Open House festival in Europe are encouraged to submit their visual stories inspired by this year’s theme: Accessibility and Inclusion. Artists are welcome to interpret the theme through any visual art form. Up to three selected Visual Stories from each Open House festival will be showcased at the Open House Europe Annual Summit 2025 in Dublin. Additionally, the chosen artworks will feature in a printed publication and on the Open House Europe website.

About Organizer

Open House Europe was established in 2022, funded through the European Union's Creative Europe Programme. Open House Europe is a collaborative project linking Open House festival organizers across Europe, fostering teamwork and knowledge-sharing. 
Each year, Open House Europe establishes an international call and invites participants to create visual stories that explore architecture and the Annual Theme using photography, film, drawing, or other visual media. The chosen stories are displayed in an exhibition that travels to various Open House Europe partner locations across Europe.

Eligibility:

  • All artists over the age of 18, who have attended any of the Open House festival, from all over the world can participate

Project/event location:

  • Dublin, Ireland

Participation fee:

  • Participation is free

Award/prize: 

  • Exhibition and publication in catalogue

  • Fully funded participation (including traveling and accommodation expenses) in Open House Europe Annual Summit 2025 in Dublin for three finalists

Application requirements:

  • Online application form

  • CV/portfolio

  • Artist statement

  • Up to 7 photos or drawings, and up to 1 minute long video of artwork

  • English title and description of artwork

  • Accepted file formats are jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .webp, .mp4, .avi, .mov

  • File size limit is 100MB per file, 300MB in total

  • One submission per artists

The submission closes:

  • Artists will have one month from the start of the festival they attended to submit their stories
