About Opportunity
The internationally recognized Open Call Residency Suriname, organized by the Creative Industries Fund, is accepting applications from individual designers, architects, and interdisciplinary makers who wish to work on themes of connection, diversity, and collectivity. This unique residency is inspired by the Surinamese concept of “alakondre,” which translates to “all countries.” The term embodies the idea of living together in harmony amid cultural diversity, celebrating the strength that comes from coexisting differences. The Residency Suriname Program offers two residency periods, each lasting three months: from 1 February to 30 April 2026, or from 15 September to 15 December 2026. During the residency, the selected participant will spend time across three distinct locations in Suriname: Paramaribo, Moengo, and Frederiksdorp. An international selection committee, composed of members from the Creative Industries Fund and invited professors, will evaluate all proposals. Selected applicants will receive a grant, as well as accommodation and travel expenses for the entire residency period.
