About Opportunity
The internationally recognized organization Global 50/50 announces the launch of its new photography competition, This is Gender: Law & Justice, open to international photographers and visual artists working across diverse mediums. This is Gender: Law & Justice invites participants to explore how gender shapes legal systems—from formal institutions like laws and courts to the hidden forces of bias, exclusion, and inequality. The competition seeks powerful images that reveal injustice and imagine more equitable futures beyond the frameworks of capitalism, colonialism, and patriarchy. All forms of photography are welcome, including documentary, portraiture, conceptual, experimental, and street photography. Submissions may capture real events, explore identity, use symbolism, or experiment with mixed media to challenge conventional ideas of justice. Winners will be selected by an international panel of experts in photography, visual culture, gender, and justice, with cash prizes awarded. Entries will be judged in two categories: visual merit and creativity—considering impact, composition, and use of color—and storytelling and perspective.
