Finland's City of Literature program, based in Helsinki, was designated as a UNESCO City of Literature in 2012. The aim of UNESCO Cities of Literature is to promote literature and literary activities, support cultural exchange, foster collaboration among cities, and stimulate creativity and innovation in the literary field.

Eligibility:

All writers, between the age of 15-21, who live in a city that is member of the UNESCO Cities of Literature Network, can participate

Award/prize:

Cash prize - €400

opportunity to perform text at a public literary event organised by Kuhmo’s City of Literature Team
Application requirements:

Text of 800-1500 words (in English and in writer’s native language) that answers the following questions:

What is my mother language?

What does my mother language mean to me?

How has my mother language shaped my identity?
-
What is the most beautiful word in my mother language – why did you choose that one?
