About Opportunity

The Daniel K. Inouye National Center for the Preservation of Democracy (Democracy Center) is accepting applications from emerging writers for the Irene Yamamoto Arts Writers Fellowship (Yamamoto Fellowship) for its second year. This year, the focus is on theater, dance, and performance art, which have been particularly impacted by the challenges stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Applicants are required to submit a work of criticism or review about theatre, dance, or performance art, and the selection committee will choose the best two authors of works, who will be awarded by 2024 Yamamoto Fellowship grant of $5,000.

Eligibility:

  • All emerging writers with less than 2 years of publication experience, over the age of 18, who reside in the US, can apply for the fellowship.

  • Fellowship - $5,000 (used for any purposes)
