About Opportunity

The art collective, Gent Network Tot in de Stad, in partnership with Kunsthal Gent, announces the "Openbare Werken 2025" ("Public Works") City Festival, set to grace the diverse public spaces of Ghent. The festival will be held from January 2024 to April 2025. The festival will be held in collaboration with VIERNULVIER. The organizers are inviting artists to submit visionary proposals with the capacity to establish a lasting and remarkable foundation for the festival. This competition welcomes a wide array of artistic mediums, including visual art, performance, and installation. A panel of revered judges will rigorously evaluate and handpick artists based on the depth of their creative concepts.

About Organizer

Kunsthal Gent is an international art organization established in the city of Gent, Belgium in 2018. The orginization is famous with its diverse programs and projects. It offers to artists the public activities, like art lectures, workshops, screenings and festivals. During weekends it hosts art exhibitions, while on working days it is a workplace for international artists and artistic organisations.

Eligibility:

  • All emerging and professional visual artists, filmmakers, performers, musicians, individually or in groups/collectives can apply to participate in the festival

Award/prize: 

  • Grant - €15,000

  • A participation as part of the festival Openbare Werken in April 2025

  • Accommodation for 3 weeks

  • Working art studio
