About Opportunity

The internationally recognized Almenara Art Prize 2025 is open for submissions from both international and local Spanish artists working across a wide range of art disciplines. All traditional art mediums are accepted, including oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor, graphite, charcoal, pencil, ink, colored pencils, gouache, and tempera. The competition welcomes figurative paintings, spanning styles from Hyperrealism to Impressionism. Accepted genres include Hyperrealism, Photorealism, Contemporary Realism, Fantastic Realism, Surrealism, Impressionism, Plein Air Painting, and other forms of representational art. Artworks may be available for sale or not, at the artist’s discretion. An international jury of invited art professionals will evaluate submissions across multiple categories. Selected works will be eligible for cash prizes totaling €30,000.

About Organizer

The Almenara Art Prize is an international painting competition organized by The Almenara Collection, a non-profit initiative founded in 2017 by David Gutiérrez and Agustina Martínez. The competition is open to artists worldwide, accepting works in various styles and mediums. Its mission is to support living artists by providing them with opportunities for exposure, recognition, and financial assistance through activities such as the Almenara Art Prize, artist residencies, workshops, and art retreats.

Eligibility:

  • Both professional and emerging artist, over the age of 18, working in various art disciplines, from across the globe can apply for this prize

Project/event location:

  • Spain

Participation fee:

  • Application fee for the first entry is €45, every next submission - €29

Award/prize: 

  • More than €30,000 in cash awards and other prizes in different award categories

  • Young Award - €500, artist residency in Andalucía, Spain and place in The 2024 Almenara Art Prize exhibition 

  • The Almenara Travel Award - €10,000

  • The Almenara Collection Moving Award - €4,000

  • Exhibition

Application requirements:

  • Artworks for the exhibition

  • Up to three photographs of the work should be submitted. Photos must have between 1MB and 20 MB and must be sent in JPG format.
