About Opportunity

The internationally renowned Jan van Eyck Academie invites applications for its 2027 Residency Program from artists, curators, designers, ranging from graphic, fashion, food, and social design to researchers, writers, and architects. This 11-month residency in the Netherlands welcomes participants from around the world to submit project proposals in any artistic medium. The selection committee will assess applicants based on their project proposals, motivation, and supporting materials. Selected residents are distinguished by their curiosity, openness, and engagement, and their work embodies an investigative and socially conscious artistic practice. Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend and an individual studio space for the entire residency period, from January 15, 2027, to December 15, 2027.

About Organizer

Founded in 1948 in Maastricht, the Netherlands, the Jan van Eyck Academie is an international post-academic institute dedicated to fine art, design, and critical reflection. Its mission is to support artists, designers, writers, and researchers in advancing their practices through experimentation, collaboration, and dialogue. The academy offers a multidisciplinary environment that fosters innovation and engagement with pressing social, cultural, and ecological issues.
Each year, the Jan van Eyck Academie welcomes approximately 36 to 42 participants from around the world. It provides residents with the tools and resources to develop, realize, and share their research while encouraging critical inquiry, mutual exchange, and active engagement with the broader global context.

Details

Eligibility:

  • Both professional and emerging artists, working in any art medium, individually or in collectives, from all over the world can apply for this residency program 


Project/event location:

  • Maastricht, the Netherlands


Participation fee:

  • Application fee is €65


Award/prize: 

  • Monthly stipend of €1,500

  • Accommodation 

  • Participants with child(ren) receive a monthly stipend of € 2,000 and a private apartment

  • Working art studio

  • Participants receive an annual working budget of €2,000 to be spent on the realisation of their individual projects during the residency period
