About Opportunity

The internationally recognized Viborg Art Gallery (Viborg Kunsthal) is accepting applications for its 2025 Riddergade Artists in Residency (AIR) Program and invites professional international visual artists. Applicants must have documented exhibition experience within an art context and previous professional-level collaborations with curators. The residency will last for three months. Riddergade AIR aims to cultivate connections between resident artists and Danish artists, while encouraging international development of the Danish contemporary art scene. An international selection committee will select the most suitable candidates for the residency and provide them with a travel grant and a monthly artistic stipend.

The Riddergade Artists in Residency (AIR), organized by Viborg Art Gallery (Viborg Kunsthal), is a program designed to support professional visual artists from around the world.
Viborg Art Gallery (Viborg Kunsthal), founded in 1994 in Denmark, is a contemporary art gallery known for showcasing a wide range of exhibitions from both Danish and international artists. The gallery plays a significant role in the local and international art scenes by providing a platform for innovative, thought-provoking, and experimental art.

Dates of stay at Riddergade AIR 2025:

  • Spring: 3 March - 2 June, 2025
  • Autumn: 25 August - 24 November, 2025

 

Eligibility:

  • Professional visual artists, over the age of 18, from all over the world can participate in this residency

 

Project/event location:

  • Viborg, Denmark

 

Participation fee:

  • Participation if free

 

Award/prize: 

  • A travel grant of DKK 3,000 ($430)
  • A monthly stipend of DKK 5,000 ($720) to cover living costs, transport as well as materials and production
  • Professional sparring, collaboration and exchanges with the art gallery's staff, local artists, curators
