About Opportunity

The internationally recognized UK-based organization Asymmetry is inviting applications from local and international curators for its 2025 Asymmetry Curatorial Research Fellowship at Chisenhale Gallery in London. The program will run from March 31, 2025, to September 25, 2026. This fellowship provides unique training and hands-on experience within a non-profit gallery renowned for its innovative approach. Participants will acquire practical skills in exhibition organization, artist collaboration, project research, production support, publishing, and public programming. An international selection committee will choose the fellows, who will receive an annual allowance and accommodation in London. For international curators, additional professional development opportunities will be available, including mentoring and peer-to-peer exchanges with other practitioners. Additionally, fellows will receive two months of accommodation at Delfina House in London.

About Organizer

Asymmetry is a non-profit art foundation based in London, UK established in 2019 by art collector Yan Du. Its mission is to support and advance curatorial practices, particularly focusing on Greater Chinese and Sinophone contemporary art. Asymmetry fosters cultural exchange and collaboration among creative practitioners, institutions, and audiences through various initiatives, including fellowships and public programs.
Chisenhale Gallery, founded by artists, is located in London. The gallery maintains its original experimental vision by commissioning and producing contemporary art that supports both international and UK-based artists in creating their most ambitious works.

Work schedule:

  • First six months - 4 days per week at Chisenhale Gallery and 1 day for independent research

  • Remaining time - 5 days per week at Chisenhale Gallery


Eligibility:

  • Both early career and emerging curators from across the globe can participate in this fellowship program

Participation fee:

  • Participation is free of charge


Award/prize: 

  • Accommodation during the full Fellowship program

  • Travel expenses up to £1,800 are covered by foundation

  • UK Visa application support

  • Working art studio first two month at Delfina Foundation

  • Artist stipend total of £40,500 for 18 months
