About Opportunity

The internationally recognized UK-based Burlington Magazine is accepting submissions for its Contemporary Art Writing Prize 2024 from writers and critics worldwide. Entrants must have published no more than six pieces of writing. Applicants are required to submit a review of a contemporary art exhibition, which will be evaluated by an international selection committee. The winner will receive a cash prize and a publishing opportunity.

About Organizer

The Burlington Magazine was established in London, UK in 1903 by art historians Roger Fry and Bernard Berenson.  
The Burlington Magazine Launched a Burlington Contemporary, an online platform dedicated to writing and research on international contemporary art. This platform features weekly reviews and articles written by prominent critics, artists, and scholars.

Judges of 2024 Burlington Contemporary Art Writing Prize:

Eligibility:

  • Both emerging and professional artists or writers, who have already published no more than six pieces of writing, from all over the world can participate in this competition 

Participation fee:

  • Participation is free

Award/prize: 

  • Cash prize - £1,000

  • Review will be published at Burlington Contemporary magazine

Application requirements:

  • Application form in English

  • CV/portfolio

  • Personal information

  • Unpublished review of a contemporary art exhibition in English

  • The review must be between 800 and 1,000 words in length and accompanied by up to three low-resolution images

  • The review and filled application form together as text document (not PDF) should be send on the email: burlingtoncontemporary@burlington.org.uk
