About Opportunity

The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation is opening its third art competition and is inviting curators, academics, and art historians. This unique opportunity offers the chance to curate an exhibition set for 2024 in the magical city of New York, USA. The Foundation is actively seeking both emerging and established researchers and cultural presenters. They should be ready to collaborate with international artists and engage in conversations about unrealized exhibition concepts . Applicants are encouraged to align their research with themes central to the Foundation's mission, which combines both art and social justice. The chosen curator will receive $3,000 for the exhibition work and an additional $2,000 for their essay in the accompanying catalog.

About Organizer

The Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation, was established in 1995 in New York City, US. In the beginning, its focus was supporting the arts, tackling urgent humanitarian issues, upholding freedom, and promoting social justice. Over time, the Foundation has extended support to the cultural organizations and social justice activists, both in the public and private sectors, through grants, exhibitions, and various cultural programs.

Eligibility:

  • All academics, art historians, curators, graduate students, PhD candidates, and those involved in post-doctoral research individually or in groups/collectives can apply

Award/prize: 

  • Organizing exhibition 

  • Curatorial fee - $3,000

  • Cash prize - $2,000 for an essay
