British Council Visual Arts Opens Applications for £10,000 Grants, Welcoming Biennials and Festivals Worldwide, Including Virtual Spaces

The British Council Visual Arts announced the start of its application process, offering a significant grant of £10,000 to organizations involved with biennials or festivals. This opportunity is open to entities in the UK and internationally, whether the events happen in physical or virtual spaces. Additionally, this grant is available for art organizations collaborating with biennials or festivals to support the participation of visual artists. The British Council Visual Arts grant call states that the main activity or presentation of the biennial/festival can happen after the end of March 2024. However, the final activity and evaluation must be completed before March 2025. This grant aim to directly help artists by working with biennials. They support travel opportunities, the creation of new artworks, networking, skill development, and exhibitions. The program actively encourages cross-cultural exchange and collaboration by creating opportunities for artists and biennials to connect, cooperate, and form meaningful partnerships globally.

The British Council Visual Arts has been supporting biennials since 2016 through its Global Biennials Fund. The recently introduced Biennials Connect Grants initiative is an expansion of these efforts. It's part of the broader Visual Arts global program called "Biennials Connect".
