About Opportunity

The French International School in Chicago, US (Lycée Français de Chicago), is launching the 2024 Artists-in-Residence Program (AIR) and welcoming creators from all artistic disciplines. However, this year, there is a particular interest in collaborating with a musician/lyricist who wants to develop an artistic project within a school setting. Participants are required to submit a project idea that they wish to implement during the entire 4-12 week residency program. The curriculum administration will select the best project idea and fund the creator for all travel and living expenses.

About Organizer

The French International School in Chicago (Lycée Français de Chicago) was founded in 1995. It aims to provide a bilingual and multicultural education to students from preschool through 12th grade, emphasizing both French and American curricula.

In terms of supporting contemporary artists, the school provides opportunities for students to engage with art through various means such as art classes, workshops, exhibitions, and possibly collaborations with local or international artists or arts organizations.

Eligibility:

  • All professional artists, working in various artistic disciplines (including: architecture, visual arts, performing arts, digital arts, comics, film/animation, design, graphic design, literature, photography, music/lyrics) from all over the world can participate in this residency program

  • Total stipend - $15,000 (includes travelling and living expenses)

  • Working space during residency period at LFC

  • Supporting materials for project


Application requirements:

  • Artists are required to speak in English or/and French

  • Implemented project shall be the property of the LFC after residency 

  • The project must reach the entire LFC community and actively involve students from pre-K to Grade 12

  • The public exhibition at the end of the residency is an integral part of the project

  • The artist will work with LFC’s pedagogical teams and, in particular, the art department
