2025 Digital Art Residency Program by Transmediale is accepting applications

Transmediale, an internationally recognized organization, in collaboration with the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, is accepting applications for the 3rd edition of its 2025 Digital Art Residency Program. The program invites two visual artists, cultural practitioners, designers, or sound artists with Swiss nationality or permanent residency who are active in digital art, design, sound, or media theory. The two-month residency will take place both on-site in Berlin at the Transmediale studio and remotely, from May to July 2025. An international selection committee will choose the participants, each of whom will receive a monthly stipend, housing support in Berlin, and travel and accommodation coverage during the festival. The residency begins at the Transmediale Festival in January 2025, where residents are encouraged to attend in Berlin. They will have the opportunity to present their projects, works in progress, or share their overall practice with the audience.

Transmediale is a festival for art and digital culture, providing a space for critical reflection on cultural transformation from a post-digital perspective for over thirty years.

Transmediale's residency program fosters sustainable practices and long-term artist collaborations. It strengthens both local and international networks, connecting diverse disciplines and communities. The residency program supports further research on existing projects or the development of new ones in the artistic medium, including: media studies, science and technology studies, media art and theory, art criticism, and digital art and moving image practices.
