About Opportunity

The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program announced its 2025 residency program designed for professional artists specializing in visual or fine arts, music, literature, and film. Up to 20 outstanding artists, coming from diverse cultural backgrounds outside of Germany, will be chosen by the organization's panel of jurors. These selected artists will receive invitations to Berlin and will be provided with an environment conducive to focused creative practice. Throughout the Berlin residency program, fellows will receive support to create and showcase exhibitions, concerts, performances, film projects, readings, and publications.

The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, which was founded in 1963 in Berlin, aims to foster the internationalization of contemporary art in Germany.

The DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program is a highly trustable artist-in-residence program globally, for established artists specializing in the fields of fine and visual arts, film, literature, and music.

Eligibility:

  • All established, professional artists, working in the field of fine and visual arts, music, literature and film, from outside of Germany can apply for the residency


Project/event location:

  • Berlin, Germany


Participation fee:

  • participation is free


Award/prize: 

  • Travel expenses are funded by the residency program

  • A monthly allowance during the whole residency program to cover living expenses and rent

  • Health insurance (if necessary) 

  • Working art studio

  • German language courses (optional)


Application requirements:

  • Online application form in English

  • CV/portfolio

  • Artist statement

  • Personal information

  • After successful acceptance of online application form, artists will get a confirmation email, where they should upload at least one link for their artwork
