About Opportunity

The US-based non-profit organization, the International Human Rights Art Movement, is accepting submissions from writers, poets, and artists worldwide for its 2024 Rhonda Gail Williford Award. Applicants should submit one unpublished poem that incorporates themes of justice, dignity, and resistance. An international selection jury will choose the winners, who will receive cash prizes.

The International Human Rights Art Movement is a non-profit organization that was founded at Dixon Place Theater (NYC) in 2017 by artist-activist Tom Block.
The International Human Rights Art Festival offers a platform for international artists whose voices are often overlooked, or even actively suppressed. 
The Rhonda Gail Williford Award for Poetry celebrates the bold, passionate, and justice-driven legacy of poet and attorney Rhonda Gail Williford.

Eligibility:

  • Both emerging and professional writers from all over the globe can apply for this award


Participation fee:

  • Participation is free


Award/prize:

  • First Prize $150

  • Second Prize $100

  • Third Prize $50

  • Up to five Honorable nominations

  • CV/portfolio (brief biography)

  • Applicants should submit one unpublished poem that incorporates themes of justice, dignity, and resistance
